Brighton & Hove String Ensemble

This award winning string ensemble is open to string players working for grade 8 or beyond. The ensemble has won the ‘Outstanding Performance Award’ at the National Music for Youth Festival five times in recent years and has performed in venues ranging from Inveraray Castle in Scotland to a cinema in Catalonia, in addition to giving an hour-long live performance on Classic FM.

The String Ensemble performs regularly in Brighton & Hove. It often includes a work performed by memory. It also performs and collaborates in challenging and unusual artistic combinations and works. The ensemble maintains strong links with the choirs at the University of Brighton where it rehearses.

Prince Regents Musicians

The ‘Prince Regent Musicians’ is an orchestra formed of advanced players and pre-professional young musicians from the Brighton & Hove area. The majority of players are past members of BYO who are still making music a major part of their lives and often intend to become professional musicians. The courses are held at Christmas and in some years in summer as well. The orchestra has performed with a pianist from Paris Conservatoire, accompanied Polish and French choirs and schools concerts in Brighton and Hove. The orchestra will tour every second year. Players who are in full time education and who are post Grade 8 are invited to audition. Interested players should contact Andy Sherwood by emailing us through the link below.
