Instrumental Lessons

How Do I Apply For Lessons?

In order to help children and young people decide which instrument might be best suited to them our teachers provide a series of instrumental demonstrations in the schools at which they teach. These are called Get into Music sessions and they take place at particular times of the school year.

Infant, Junior and Primary Schools

  • All children in a particular year group will receive a Get into Music session during the summer term for each instrument available to them with the aim of starting lessons in September
  • A meeting will take place at the school the week after the Get into Music session where parents/carers are encouraged to meet the instrumental teacher and find out more about what is involved in learning an instrument
  • Application forms are given out at the meeting which on completion should be returned to Brighton & Hove Music and Performing Arts
  • If you are unable to attend the meeting at your child’s school please click here to register your interest

Secondary Schools

  • All Yr7 pupils will receive a Get into Music session at their school during the first week of the Autumn term. All the instruments available to learn will be demonstrated with the aim of starting lessons before the end of September
  • A meeting will take place at the school during the second week of term where parents/carers are encouraged to meet the instrumental teacher and find out more about what is involved in learning an instrument
  • Application forms are given out at the meeting which on completion should be returned to Brighton & Hove Music and Performing Arts
  • If you are unable to attend the meeting at your child’s school please click here to register your interest

Please note that it is possible to apply for and start tuition at any time during the school year. Please click here to register your interest in lessons. All tuition is subject to sufficient demand for lessons and the availability of space on the instrumental teacher’s timetable.
